Ann M. Farese

Ann M. Farese, MA, MS, is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. With over 30 years of research expertise in radiation biology and hematology, she specializes in developing nonhuman primate models of acute radiation syndromes (hematopoietic, gastrointestinal, pulmonary) and evaluating medical countermeasures. Her pivotal work contributed to FDA approvals of Neupogen® and Neulasta® for nuclear disaster scenarios.

Recent publications emphasize radiation dose-response relationships, immune reconstitution post-irradiation, and efficacy of metalloporphyrin antioxidants (e.g., AEOL 10150) in nonhuman primates. Trends include translational validation of medical countermeasures and mechanistic insights into delayed radiation syndromes.
