Ann-Helen Patomella is a Senior Lecturer and occupational therapist at the Karolinska Institutet, affiliated with the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society. She leads the ENGAGE research group focusing on everyday activities for health promotion, inclusion, and social justice.
- Defended PhD thesis on Driving ability among people with stroke (2008)
- Docent in Occupational Therapy (2020)
Research interests include:
- Stroke prevention through engaging everyday activities
- Community mobility for persons with/without disabilities
- mHealth applications for sustainable health
- Driving ability assessment (P-Drive tool)
- Health equity in aging populations
Current projects:
- Make My Day: Stroke prevention program using person-centered activity interventions (Swedish Research Council & Kamprad Family Foundation grants)
- MOBILE: Mobility and health of persons with disabilities in Switzerland (Swiss National Science Foundation)
- Future Well Ageing: Community-based program using welfare technology
Collaborations: Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW), University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western Switzerland, and interprofessional Swedish healthcare actors.
Teaching: Master courses on scientific methods, measurement, and occupational therapy at Karolinska Institutet. Module coordinator in the European Master of Occupational Therapy.
