Ann E. Harrison is the Bank of America Dean of the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, and a Senior Global Fellow at The Lauder Institute. She holds a dual citizenship of the U.S. and France. Her career spans academia and global policy, including roles as the William H. Wurster Professor of Multinational Management at the Wharton School and Director of Development Policy at the World Bank, where she reformed research funding processes and enhanced institutional transparency.
Education: B.A. in Economics and History from UC Berkeley, Ph.D. in Economics from Princeton University, and a DEUG from the University of Paris.
Research focuses on development economics, international trade, global labor markets, and multinational firms. She authored dozens of journal articles and co-authored books like Globalization and Poverty and The Factory-Free Economy. In 2017, she received China’s prestigious Sun Yefang Prize for her work on foreign investment and globalization.
Her leadership includes overseeing a 300-person team at the World Bank and currently guiding the Haas School’s strategic vision. Her work emphasizes inclusive economic policies and sustainable global practices.
