Ann Curthoys is an Honorary Professor in the Department of History at the University of Sydney. She holds Fellowships with the Australian Academy of the Humanities and the Academy of Social Sciences of Australia. Her research focuses on Australian colonial history, Indigenous rights, and feminist historiography. Current projects include studies on the Aboriginal prison on Rottnest Island, Paul Robeson's 1960 Australia visit, and domestic violence history since 1920.

- Prior affiliations: University of Technology Sydney (1979–1994), Australian National University (1977–1995, 1995–2008)
Her major works include Freedom Ride: A Freedom Rider Remembers (2002) and Taking Liberty (2018). Awards include the 2013 Annual History Citation. She has led grants such as the 2021 ARC project on domestic violence history and a 2007 study on Indigenous self-government.
Research interests blend historical theory with transnational frameworks, examining colonialism, humanitarianism, and gender. Recent articles address legal archives, carceral systems, and Cold War narratives.
