Ankur Singh is the Carl Ring Family Professor and Professor at the Georgia Institute of Technology, holding a joint appointment in the Woodruff School of Mechanical Engineering and the Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech and Emory University. He leads the Immunotherapy and Cell Engineering Laboratory (ICEL), focusing on engineered immune tissues and materials for studying immunity, cancer, and inflammation. His research integrates bioengineering, nanotechnology, and mechanobiology to develop organoids and on-chip systems for immune modulation and therapy discovery.
Education: Post-Doctoral Fellow, Mechanical Engineering, Georgia Tech (2010-13); Ph.D., Biomedical Engineering, University of Texas at Austin (2006-10); M.Tech., Biomedical Engineering, IIT Bombay (2004-06); B.E., B. T. Kumaon Institute of Technology (2000-2004).
Research Interests: Immuno-engineering, cancer bioengineering, immunomodulation in metabolic syndrome, and nanoscale immunotherapy. Key projects include synthetic immune organoids for lymphoma modeling, mechanistic studies of B cell receptor signaling, and nanowire-mediated T cell engineering. His lab explores how biophysical forces and tissue microenvironments influence immune responses and therapeutic efficacy.
Awards: Recognized with the NSF CAREER Award (2016), Society for Biomaterials Young Investigator Award (2017), and multiple 3M Faculty Awards. His work has been highlighted in Nature Materials, Science Advances, and Discover Magazine.
Advising & Grants: Supervises a multidisciplinary team of postdocs, PhD students, and undergraduates. Secures funding from NIH (NIAID, NCI), DoD, NSF, and industry partners like Genentech. Collaborates on clinical trials and translational research in lymphoma therapy and immunomodulation.
Labs/Teams: Leads the Singh Lab at Georgia Tech, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches. Active in initiatives like the NIH T32 training grant on Immuno-engineering and the Cornell-Weill Cornell Academic Integration program.
