Dr Anke Winchenbach is a Senior Lecturer in Tourism and Transport at the University of Surrey's School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. She holds a PhD and academic roles including Programme Leader for BSc International Tourism Management programs, Academic Integrity Officer, and Menopause Champion. Her research focuses on sustainable tourism, social justice, dignity in employment, and coastal community resilience. She leads projects funded by the British Academy, Leverhulme Trust, and ESRC, including studies on Indigenous tourism impact and coastal livelihoods. She is Co-president of the International Tourism Research Committee (RC50) of ISA and a Fellow of the International Humanistic Management Association. Awards include the 2019 IHMA Fellowship. Her work bridges academia and industry through consultancy, policy advocacy, and international collaboration.

She collaborates internationally with institutions like Universidad de Monterrey (Mexico) and Wakayama University (Japan). Awards include the IHMA Fellowship and recognition for impactful research on sustainable tourism workforce challenges.
Grants include £10k ESRC funding for coastal diversification networks and £9.9k Leverhulme Grant for Indigenous tourism studies. She advises organizations like The Travel Foundation and serves on Green Key England’s national jury. She co-convenes workshops on women in leadership and sustainable tourism education.
