Dr Anjana Basnet is a Lecturer in International Business and Strategy at Salford Business School, University of Salford. Her work bridges academia and real-world impact through research in corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability, and international business, with a focus on developing economies.
Her research centers on the drivers of sustainable business practices, particularly in emerging markets. A key finding from her PhD revealed that cultural and cognitive factors, rather than just regulation, can create coercive pressure for Nepali firms to engage in CSR. She also investigates CSR communication and sustainability reporting practices.
Her most recent research, presented in 2024, explores how carbon literacy can be integrated into management education, reflecting a growing trend in her work toward sustainability education and responsible management pedagogy.
Anjana played a leading role in preparing the University of Salford’s first SIP 2.0 PRME report, a comprehensive 900+ page submission that contributed to the university’s United Nations Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) accreditation. This initiative underscores her commitment to embedding sustainability across institutional practices.
She is passionate about teaching and student development, valuing Salford’s emphasis on inclusive, hands-on learning that enhances student employability. She collaborates with colleagues such as Dr. Divya Patel and contributes to a supportive and diverse academic environment.
