Anja Wittkowski is a Senior Lecturer in Clinical Psychology at the University of Manchester's School of Psychological Sciences. She serves as Deputy Research Director and Research Methods Module Organiser for the Clinical Psychology Doctorate Programme, overseeing academic components including teaching, advising trainees, and examining case reports. Her research focuses on perinatal clinical psychology, particularly maternal mental health interventions, parent-infant relationships, and parenting programs for mothers with mental health challenges. She leads key projects like the NIHR-funded THRIVE trial and the UK International Parenting Survey (IPS). Wittkowski is affiliated with multiple research groups, including the Centre for New Treatment and Understanding in Mental Health (CeNTrUM), and holds clinical roles at Wythenshawe Hospital's Mother and Baby Unit.
Education: BSc (First Class Honours), MPhil, and Clin Psy D from the University of Manchester.
Research Interests: Perinatal mental health, parenting interventions, maternal sensitivity, and the impact of mental illness on mother-infant bonding. Her work integrates systematic reviews, mixed-methods designs, and randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Key projects include evaluating Baby Triple P parenting programs and assessing digital mental health tools like the DAWN-P trial.
Collaborations: Works with institutions such as Queensland University of Technology (Australia), Glasgow Caledonian University, and Cardiff University. Leads interdisciplinary teams on perinatal mental health and parenting initiatives.
