Anja Vest is a Professor at the Department of Energy and Life Science at Flensburg University of Applied Sciences, where she serves as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering (FB2). Her academic responsibilities include teaching physics and mathematics across multiple engineering programs including Sustainable Energy Systems, Energy Sciences, Biotechnology and Food Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Ship and Plant Engineering, and System Technology. She also holds significant organizational roles as University Radiation Protection Officer and Representative for Studies and Teaching.
Professor Vest's research focuses primarily on experimental particle physics, with extensive involvement in the ATLAS experiment at CERN. Her work spans from theoretical concepts like extra dimensions and microscopic black holes to precise measurements of particle interactions that test the Standard Model of particle physics. She has made notable contributions to Higgs boson research, vector-boson scattering studies, and searches for physics beyond the Standard Model. In recent years, she has also expanded her research to include physics education, particularly examining digital competencies of prospective engineers and science teachers.
