معرفی
Andreas Warburton is a Professor of Physics at McGill University, where he chairs the Department of Physics. He holds visiting roles at Harvard University (2023-24), University College London (2016-17), and Universität Bern (2009-10). His research focuses on experimental high-energy particle physics, particularly studying the Standard Model and exploring physics beyond it using collider experiments like ATLAS (CERN) and Belle II (KEK). He leads efforts in jet flavor tagging, Higgs boson studies, and b quark physics.
Education: P.Phys. (Canadian Association of Physicists), Ph.D. (University of Toronto), M.Sc. (University of Toronto), B.Sc. (University of Victoria, Honours Co-op).
Research Interests: Utilizes particle colliders and detectors to probe fundamental particles and forces. Key areas include b quark dynamics, Higgs boson properties, and searches for exotic phenomena like excited quarks or quantum black holes. Collaborates with international teams on the ATLAS and Belle II experiments, contributing to detector hardware and analysis techniques.
Teaching: Courses span introductory astrophysics, experimental methods, electronics, and advanced particle physics. Positions available for graduate students in McGill’s Experimental Particle Physics Group, contingent on funding and student capacity.
Affiliations: Canadian Association of Physicists (P.Phys.), Institute of Particle Physics (Past President), and leadership roles in ATLAS (e.g., Physics Coordinator, ATLAS-Canada Deputy Spokesperson).
