Prof. Dr. Anja Abendroth is a Full Professor of Social Structure Analysis at the Faculty of Sociology, Universität Bielefeld. Her academic career includes roles such as Junior Professor for 'Technical and Social Change' (2018–2023) and Academic Councilor (2013–2018). She holds a PhD from Utrecht University (2013) and a Diplom in Sociology from Universität Bielefeld (2008).
Research Interests: Her work focuses on interrelations between work and private life, gender and parenthood-based social inequalities, flexible work forms, algorithmic work regulation, and self-determination in digitalized workplaces. She leads projects like InfraNextGen (EU Horizon-funded) and studies digital work communication's impact across European countries.
Grants & Projects: Current and past grants include funding from DFG, BAuA, and NRW for projects on workplace flexibility, telework, and socio-technical systems. She co-leads the InChangE research network on individualization in changing environments.
