Anitha Devadoss is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Biological Chemistry, Biophysics and Bioengineering (IB3) within the School of Engineering & Physical Sciences at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK. Her academic journey includes a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Dublin City University (2011) and postdoctoral research positions at institutions in South Korea, Japan, and the UK. She holds roles as IB3 Postgraduate Coordinator and EDI Champion for GRI Health and Care Technologies.
Her research focuses on developing innovative nano-biosensor technologies for early point-of-care diagnostics, particularly in food safety monitoring and cancer diagnostics using graphene-based sensors. Key projects include smart nano-biosensors for detecting food spoilage markers and ultrasensitive immunoassays for extracellular vesicle profiling in cancer detection. Her work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals, emphasizing environmental and health advancements.
Dr. Devadoss has secured funding from EPSRC, the European Commission, Innovate UK, and the Welsh Government. Her research interests span electrochemical biosensors, advanced nanomaterials, surface bio-functionalization, and healthcare technologies. Notable awards include the Associate Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy (2020) and Brain Korea-21 Postdoctoral Fellowship (2012).
Her contributions extend to editorial roles, invited talks on STEM equity, and collaborations across global institutions. Current efforts prioritize translating nanotechnology-driven solutions into practical healthcare and environmental applications.
