Anita Wohlmann is an Associate Professor at the Department of Culture and Language, University of Southern Denmark, affiliated with the Centre for Uses of Literature. She holds a Dr. Phil in American Studies from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. Her research focuses on the social and cultural uses of literature, particularly in contexts of health, aging, and polarization. She explores narrative strategies in literary works and how they address issues like illness metaphors, age stereotypes, and political radicalization.
Education: Dr. Phil in American Studies (2012), M.A. in American Studies, Film Studies, French (2009), both from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
Research Interests: Medical Humanities, Narrative Medicine, Age Studies, polarization in abortion discourses, and the aesthetic dimensions of cultural narratives. She examines how form and content interact to shape public health discourses and healthcare practices.
Publications span 55+ works, including journal articles and book chapters analyzing topics like aging masculinity in Hemingway's works, abortion narratives, and interdisciplinary approaches to public health. Recent work addresses polarization in healthcare contexts and the role of literature in fostering empathy and critical thinking.
