Anita Raghunath is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Literature at the Faculty of Humanities, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She holds roles such as Director of International Policy for the Humanities at VU, Board Member for the VENI Research Awards (NWO SSH), Co-Chair of the Lisa Jardine Research Fellowship (NIAS-KNAW), and Board Member for the journal Punk & Punk Now (UK). Her research focuses on post-colonial discourse, Gothic literature, and marginalized identities within punk subcultures. Raghunath has received prestigious awards including the British Council Research Award (2007-2008) and VU Teacher of the Year (2010).
Her academic contributions include editorship of special journal issues on punk studies and research on topics like female humor in counter-culture and transatlantic punk memoirs. She teaches courses such as Gothic Spaces and Novel and Identity: Women Writers in the Eighteenth Century. Raghunath actively engages in academic activities including organizing conferences on internationalizing humanities and delivering lectures on punk rock, racism, and multicultural dialogue.
