Professor Anita Mehta is an Academic Visitor and Consultant at the University of Oxford's Faculty of Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics. She previously held a Leverhulme Visiting Professorship until December 2019. Her research bridges theoretical physics and linguistics, focusing on complex systems such as speech perception modeling, dynamical language evolution, and optimization of NP-complete problems.
Education: Rhodes Scholar, MA and DPhil in Theoretical Physics from Oxford. Career highlights include a Radcliffe Fellowship at Harvard (2007-2008) and an EPSRC Fellowship at the Clarendon Laboratory (1998-1999). She has worked at institutions in Cambridge, Birmingham, and India.
