Anita McCormick is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University. She holds a PhD in School Psychology from Texas A&M (2000), an MA in School Psychology from Trinity University (1992), and a B.A. in Communication Science from Monterrey Institute of Technology (1989). Her work focuses on bilingual psychoeducational assessment, family literacy interventions, and supporting English Language Learners with disabilities. She has served as Principal Investigator on major grants including a $2.5M US Department of Education Training Program (2008-2015) focused on Hispanic children with disabilities and their families.
Dr. McCormick has advised doctoral students in topics ranging from Mexican school psychology practices to neuropsychological test selection for Asian American populations. Her research emphasizes culturally responsive assessment practices, with notable contributions to understanding behavioral measurement in bilingual populations and literacy development in immigrant families. She currently serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Psychoeducational Assessment and School Psychology Review.
Her teaching portfolio includes advanced courses in school counseling theories, program planning, and bilingual psychoeducational assessment. Recent publications (2020) highlight validation studies of behavioral assessment tools for Spanish-speaking populations and analyses of cross-border migration impacts on school systems.
