Angela Canas

Dr. Angela Canas is an Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Texas Southwestern (UTSW) Medical Center and a clinical neuropsychologist at Children’s Health. She specializes in neuropsychological evaluations for pediatric patients with neurofibromatosis type I (NF1), congenital heart disease (CHD), and bilingual/Spanish-speaking populations. She leads the Neurofibromatosis Program at Children’s Health/UTSW and serves as the Bilingual Neuropsychologist for the Heart Center Fontan Program.

Her research focuses on cognitive, academic, and psychosocial outcomes of NF1, CHD, and dual language exposure. She actively participates in the NF Clinical Trials Consortium and Cardiac Neurodevelopmental Outcome Collaborative. Dr. Canas holds leadership roles including Co-Chair of the Children’s Health Neuropsychology Bilingual Committee, UTSW Clinical Training Committee member, and Cultural Diversity Scholar supervisor.
