Anita Burroughs-Price is an Adjunct Instructor of Music (Harp) at Furman University, where she also serves as Head of the Harp Division. She previously taught at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, UNC Charlotte, Wake Forest University, and others. She is Principal Harpist with the North Carolina Symphony and has performed with renowned groups like the Durham Symphony and Piccolo Spoleto Festival. Her volunteer work includes performances for hospitals, shelters, and terminally ill patients, reflecting her emphasis on music’s healing power.
- Education: B.M. and B.A. from Furman University; M.M. from Yale University; Diplomas in Harp Performance and Pedagogy from the Royal College of Music (London).
- Training under mentors: Marisa Robles (Royal College), Gloria Agostini (Yale), Marjorie Tyre (Furman), and others.
Her research interests span harp technique, pedagogy, and the therapeutic applications of music. She has released the acclaimed CD Healing Touch, recognized with a Silver Angel Award, and collaborates with musicians like NC Symphony Concertmaster Brian Reagin and cellist Bonnie Thron.
Awards include the Raleigh Medal of Arts and Yale Alumni Prize, highlighting her contributions to music and community service.
Teaching focuses on nurturing diverse students, from beginners to advanced harpists. She advises on performance preparation, instrument repair, and career development. Her private studio in Raleigh supports students at all levels, and she maintains long-term mentorship with former pupils.
