Dr Anisha Meggi is a Lecturer in Architecture at the Leicester School of Architecture, De Montfort University, within the Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities. She teaches across the BA (Hons) Architecture, M.Arch, and MA Architectural Design programmes, with a focus on design studio, contextual studies, research methods, and discourses. She completed her PhD in 2021 on adaptive reuse of heritage structures in Diu Town, India.
Her research interests include architectural heritage, urban regeneration, colonial and postcolonial architecture, migration, hybrid identities, circular economy, participatory design, and informal settlements. She specialises in South Asian urban contexts, particularly examining the impact of colonial interventions on contemporary urban challenges and climate resilience.
The recent publications reflect a strong focus on postcolonial urbanism, digital heritage representation, smart home systems adapted to local contexts, and the socio-cultural dimensions of architectural preservation. Her work frequently draws on fieldwork in Diu Island, Jaipur, Udaipur, and Ahmedabad, combining urban mapping, building surveys, and stakeholder interviews.
Dr Meggi is affiliated with the Institute of Architecture at DMU and actively contributes to research in heritage and urbanism. She is open to supervising PhD candidates in related areas and has developed innovative teaching modules such as the Writing Architecture block for first-year students.
