Dr. Anh Nguyen Austen is a researcher at the Institute for Humanities and Social Sciences at Australian Catholic University (ACU), Melbourne, specializing in refugee and migration history, digital diaspora studies, and community-based research. She holds a PhD in History from the University of Melbourne and contributes to interdisciplinary teaching and public engagement through exhibitions, workshops, and media appearances.

Her work bridges academic research with public history and museum practices.

These works reflect a strong trend in interdisciplinary migration studies, combining historical analysis with digital media, psychology, and cultural studies to understand identity, resilience, and belonging.
Dr. Nguyen Austen is the Founding Editor of the Digital Diaspora Studies Book Series with Routledge and an Honorary Research Associate at Museums Victoria. She has collaborated with organizations such as the Cobargo Bushfire Resilience Centre, Free to Feed, and VietSpeak, co-creating community-based projects that promote civic engagement and public history. She leads workshops on game design in migration education and has presented at public lectures and exhibitions at the Immigration Museum and Melbourne Museum.
Her academic and public work emphasizes collaboration with schools and non-profits to produce high-impact, interdisciplinary projects that center migrant voices and histories.
