Angie Cucchi is a Senior Lecturer in Psychology at London Metropolitan University and a Counselling Psychologist registered with the UK Health and Care Professions Council. She holds a Doctorate in Counselling Psychology.
Research expertise focuses on eating disorders, cross-cultural psychology, and personality disorders. Her work examines cultural influences on mental health, particularly in Middle Eastern contexts, and develops culturally adapted therapeutic approaches. Significant work addresses the integration of Islamic principles into cognitive behavioral therapy.
Recent publications (2016-2025) demonstrate strong research trends in culturally responsive mental healthcare, including studies on explanatory models of distress in Oman, culturally adapted CBT, and mental health aspects of religious/spiritual practices. Additional research examines the intersection of eating disorders with self-harm and personality pathology.
Awards include the Division of Counselling Psychology BPS Research Prize (2015) and Trainee Prize (2015) from the British Psychological Society.
