Angelos Dimopoulos

Dr Angelos Dimopoulos is a Senior Lecturer in Law at Queen Mary University of London's School of Law. Previously, he served as Assistant Professor at Tilburg University and Research Coordinator of the Tilburg Law and Economics Centre (TILEC). He holds a PhD from the European University Institute (2010), alongside degrees from the Universities of Thessaloniki (LLB), Hanover (MLE), and Cambridge (LLM). His expertise spans EU external relations law, international investment law, and EU constitutional governance.

Dr Dimopoulos's research focuses on three core areas: (1) EU investment policy evolution and its impact on global frameworks; (2) institutional design of EU economic governance and Euro-area reforms; and (3) differentiated integration and multi-level governance mechanisms. His work emphasizes constitutional integrity in EU institutional frameworks and the interplay between international law and EU legal systems.

His academic contributions include a monograph EU Foreign Investment Law (OUP, 2011) and influential articles published in European Law Review, Common Market Law Review, and Journal of World Investment and Trade. His scholarship bridges legal doctrine with policy analysis, addressing contemporary challenges in EU external economic relations and investment policy.

Dr Dimopoulos supervises postgraduate research in EU economic law, external relations, and international investment law. He actively engages with the Centre for Law and Society in a Global Context (CLSGC), contributing to interdisciplinary legal scholarship. His teaching portfolio includes the Law of the European Union undergraduate module.
