Angelo Moretti is an Assistant Professor in Methodology and Statistics at Utrecht University's Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences. He specializes in survey statistics, particularly small area estimation and data integration methods, with applications to poverty, crime, social exclusion, and public attitudes. His interdisciplinary approach bridges statistical methodology with social science research.
Moretti earned his PhD in Social Statistics (Multivariate Small Area Estimation) from the University of Manchester, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) - UKRI, where he served as principal investigator. He previously held positions as Assistant Professor in Mathematics at Manchester Metropolitan University and researcher roles at the University of Manchester and University of Sheffield. He also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education.
His expertise includes survey research, official statistics, multivariate statistics, and multilevel analysis. He actively contributes to academic communities as a fellow of multiple prestigious institutions and as an organizer of educational initiatives like the 2023 Summer School on Survey Research.
