Angelina Kalashnikova

Dr. Angelina Kalashnikova is a historian at Kiel University's Institute of History within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Her research focuses on 17th-century Siberian history, particularly examining slavery, trafficking, and hostage-taking practices in Yakutsk. She explores inter-ethnic marriages between Russian settlers and indigenous Siberian populations, and their social impacts.

Her work contributes to postcolonial studies and women's history, utilizing previously overlooked archival materials. She completed her doctorate at the Saint Petersburg Institute of History, Russian Academy of Science, in 2022, and is part of the KiTE fellowship program for early career researchers.

Dr. Kalashnikova works within Kiel University's interdisciplinary research environment, collaborating across faculties through the university's priority research areas. Her current projects aim to provide nuanced perspectives on Siberia's incorporation into Muscovy and its historical trajectory.
