Angela Y. Chang is an Associate Professor at the Department of Public Health and the Danish Centre for Health Economics (DaCHE) at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU), and a Senior Fellow of Health Sciences at the Danish Institute for Advanced Study (DIAS). She holds a master’s from Johns Hopkins University, a doctoral degree from Harvard University, and postdoctoral training at the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) at the University of Washington. Her research focuses on global health, health economics, and health metrics, with a commitment to reducing health and wealth inequalities. Recent work includes measuring disease burden in Denmark, studying climate youth migration in Uganda, and evaluating the economic impact of health changes. She has received a DANIDA grant of DKK 10 million for a four-year project on climate youth migration in Uganda.
Dr. Chang collaborates with international organizations like the World Bank, UNICEF, and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She is a member of the Lancet Commission on Investing in Health. Her interdisciplinary approach addresses complex public health challenges, emphasizing policy-informing research and resource allocation strategies. Beyond academia, she enjoys family time and balancing the demands of motherhood with her academic career.
