Angela Stelson is a Physicist at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) since 2019, previously serving as an NRC Postdoctoral Research Associate (2017-2019). She holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Cornell University (2016) and a B.S. in Physics, Mathematics, and Political Science from the University of Oregon (2012).
Her research focuses on developing advanced microwave measurement techniques for coaxial, waveguide, and on-wafer applications, supporting NIST’s traceability in microwave impedance. She leads the Guided Wave Electromagnetics Group, advancing projects like NIST-on-a-Chip, which integrates microwave microfluidic measurements for medical diagnostics and pharmaceuticals. Her work bridges material science, chemical engineering, and communications technology.
- Key Research Areas: Ultrasonic absorption spectroscopy, interconnect characterization, broadband material analysis
- Applications: Medical diagnostics, pharmaceutical manufacturing, catalyst development
Awards include the DOC Bronze Medal (2020) and fellowships from NIST, NSF, and the Lester B. Knight Nanotechnology program.
