Angela Schwarzkopf serves as Assistant Professor of Harp in the Department of Music Performance Studies at Western University's Don Wright Faculty of Music. An acclaimed JUNO Award-winning harpist, she performs globally as soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral principal harpist for London Symphonia and the National Arts Centre Orchestra.
Her educational distinction includes being Canada's first Doctor of Musical Arts in harp performance. Dr. Schwarzkopf's research centers on contemporary classical music with emphasis on Canadian compositions, new music commissioning, and harp technique innovation. She actively expands repertoire through collaborations with prominent composers, bridging traditional and modern performance practices.
Her recent creative output demonstrates a clear trajectory in contemporary Canadian music: albums 'lumena' (2022) and 'detach' (2020) showcase technical mastery and artistic vision in new works, featuring cross-cultural influences and extended techniques that redefine harp possibilities. Critical acclaim highlights her 'sublime instrumental touch' and ability to maintain 'tensile strength' in musical narratives.

She performs extensively with The Topaz Duo (flute-harp ensemble), London Symphonia, and National Arts Centre Orchestra, while shaping harp pedagogy through university teaching and Royal Conservatory examinations.
