Dr. Angela Boland is a researcher at the University of Liverpool, affiliated with the Liverpool Reviews and Implementation Group (LRiG) since 2001. She specializes in health economics, conducting systematic reviews and cost-effectiveness analyses, particularly for National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) Technology Appraisals. She holds an undergraduate degree in Economics and Spanish, a Master’s degree and PhD in Health Economics, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education.
Her research focuses on health technology assessment, economic evaluations alongside randomized controlled trials, and systematic review methodologies. She has contributed extensively to NICE guidance, including single technology appraisals and national social care implementation projects, with funding from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).
Dr. Boland's recent publications address cost-effectiveness in oncology, rare diseases, and diagnostic technologies. She also co-edited the second edition of Doing A Systematic Review: A Student's Guide.
She actively collaborates with the Liverpool Reviews and Implementation Group, working on projects funded by the Department of Health & Social Care (UK) and Liverpool Clinical Commissioning Group. Her work spans clinical and policy domains, with a focus on translating research into healthcare decision-making.
