Aneta Vasileva

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Arch. Aneta Vasileva is a faculty member at the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG) in Sofia, Bulgaria, where she works in the Faculty of Architecture, Department of History and Theory of Architecture. Dr. Vasileva earned her Doctor of Science in "Theory and History of Architecture" from UACEG in March 2017 with a dissertation on "Bulgarian Architecture in the Second Half of the 20th Century. External Influences and Development of Identity." She previously completed her Master of Architecture at the same institution in February 2003. She is multilingual, with proficiency in English, German, Russian, and Italian, which facilitates her international research collaborations.

Her research focuses on architectural history and theory, with particular emphasis on post-war and contemporary Bulgarian architecture, socialist and post-socialist architectural heritage, modernism, and the complex relationship between architecture, nationalism, and cultural identity. Dr. Vasileva has been actively involved in numerous research projects both nationally and internationally, including the "Architecture of Post-War Sofia" project (2020), "Architecture of Bulgaria after World War II" (2020-2021), the Buzludzha Conservation and Management Plan with the Getty Foundation, and the Architecture Competition Culture in Europe program. She frequently collaborates with Senior Assistant Professor Dr. Arch. Emilia Kaleva on research projects and publications focused on Bulgarian architectural heritage.
