Ane Thommessen Graff is an Associate Professor at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts' Academy of Fine Art. Her research focuses on feminist new materialisms and Deleuze's concept of 'the wound,' exploring material reality through sculpture, performance, and literary texts. She completed her undergraduate studies at Bergen National Academy of the Arts (2004) and is currently finalizing a PhD in Artistic Research at Oslo Academy.
Her pedagogical approach emphasizes honesty, openness, and vulnerability in artistic development. She fosters collaborative critique sessions where students prepare in advance to support peers' growth. Graff's exhibitions include 'The Wound In Its Entanglements' (2022), 'Liquid Life' (2021), and the 2021 Liverpool Biennale. Notable works include installations addressing materiality, body politics, and temporal dynamics.
Her exhibitions often engage interdisciplinary practices, blending sculpture with performative elements. Recent works like 'Weather Report: Forecasting Future' (2019-2020) explore environmental and future-oriented themes, while collaborations like '#Many souls Speak Through Bodies in Motion' (2022) highlight collective artistic inquiry.
