Andy Zheng

Andy Zheng is an Adjunct Fellow at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD), holding a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley (2014) and a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore (2008). He also earned a Certificate in Engineering and Business for Sustainability from UC Berkeley.

Dr. Zheng’s research focuses on renewable energy, smart city technologies, and big data applications in urban transportation and green financing. His work bridges technology and policy, particularly in the context of sustainable energy transitions and pandemic response. He pioneered PAIR Taxi, a big data platform for electric vehicle (EV) fleet management, and FluTrace, an AI-driven contact tracing system deployed during the early stages of the pandemic.

His recent publications and conference contributions emphasize decarbonization strategies, smart mobility, and the societal impacts of autonomous vehicles and ride-hailing platforms. Key themes include policy design for EV adoption, data-driven urban planning, and equitable innovation ecosystems.

Lab/Team: Aspiring Citizens Cleantech (ACC), a venture he founded in 2014 to accelerate sustainable energy transitions through integrated technology, policy, and business model innovations.
