Kwan Wei Lek

Kwan Wei Lek is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Head of Cluster (Science, Mathematics and Technology) at Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD). He holds a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from UCLA, an MS in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Singapore, and a BEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Kyoto University. Prior to SUTD, he served as a lecturer at Singapore Polytechnic and as an adjunct faculty member at Singapore Institute of Technology.

His research focuses on pedagogy innovation, particularly applying artificial intelligence to enhance teaching and learning outcomes. Key areas include virtual dissection activities, blended learning strategies, and understanding student performance through machine learning. He also investigates energy-related technologies such as photovoltaics and printed electronics, with contributions to organic solar cells and nanocomposite memory devices.

Recent work highlights include presenting at the AI Educator Symposium 2019 and exploring fair online assessment methods during remote learning. His interdisciplinary approach bridges education technology, materials science, and sustainable energy solutions.

Dr. Kwan has published extensively in journals like Advanced Materials, Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells, and Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society, covering topics ranging from organic electronics to AI-driven pedagogy.
