Andy Weaver is an Associate Professor and Chair in the Department of English at York University, located in the Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Alberta, an M.A. from the University of New Brunswick, and a B.A. from Carleton University.
His research focuses on contemporary Canadian and American poetry, experimental poetry, and poetics, with recent work addressing visual poetry, M. NourbeSe Philip's Zong!, and creative writing pedagogy. He has published four books of poetry, including Were the Bees (2005, shortlisted for an Alberta Book Award), the chapbook So/I (2022, longlisted for the Nelson Ball Prize), and The Loom (2024).
Weaver has been actively involved with literary journals and poetry reading series. His scholarly contributions emphasize formally innovative and experimental poetic forms.
