Andy Pearsall

Andy Pearsall is a Senior Lecturer in Photojournalism at the University of South Wales, affiliated with the Faculty of Business and Creative Industries. He has served as Course Leader for BA Photojournalism (2013-2023) and BA Journalism (2022-2024), and Acting Course Leader for MA Visual Journalism (2021-2022). His research focuses on teaching innovations, historical photographic processes like wet plate collodion and cyanotype, and media ethics.

Research & Exhibitions: Active in photojournalism ethics, e-learning strategies, and alternative photographic techniques. Known for workshops in cyanotype and wet plate collodion processes.

Grants & External Roles: Led a CELT-funded mobile learning project. Served as External Examiner at Hereford College of Arts (2010-2014) and Academic Advisor for Birmingham City University's Visual Communication programs. Currently a School Governor.

Labs & Projects: Involved in initiatives like '#USWDEM16 Dementia-themed exhibition' and 'Steampunk Portraiture' series. Active in community projects like the 'Great Big Empty Shop Experiment' curation (2011).
