Sarah Midkiff

Sarah Midkiff serves as the Coordinator of Facilities, Equipment and Technology for the Cinema program, Communication Arts, and the departments of Kinetic Imaging and Photography + Film at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Photography + Film, contributing to curriculum and instruction in visual arts disciplines.

• Education: MFA in Mass Communications and Media Arts from Southern Illinois University; BFA in Photography from the University of Notre Dame.
• Teaching Experience: Courses in wet-plate collodion, commercial studio lighting at Southern Illinois University, City University of New York, VCUarts, and the Visual Arts Center of Richmond.

Her photographic research examines the interplay between reality and language construction, with a focus on unconscious spatial relationships in visual media. As an adjunct faculty member, she bridges technical resources and pedagogical innovation across multiple departments within VCU School of the Arts.
