Andy Abril

Dr. Andy Abril is a Professor of Medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine, serving as a Consultant in the Division of Rheumatology within the Department of Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. His clinical practice and research focus on complex rheumatic disorders, particularly systemic sclerosis and systemic vasculitis.

Dr. Abril's research interests span several critical areas in rheumatology, including systemic sclerosis, where he investigates clinical appearances, diagnostic methods, and innovative treatments such as cellular therapies, new medications, and autologous stem cell bone marrow transplant. He also studies interstitial lung disease associated with connective tissue disorders and has extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of systemic vasculitis, having participated in the development of national and international diagnostic and treatment guidelines.

His publications demonstrate a consistent focus on rare and complex rheumatic conditions, with significant contributions to understanding sarcoidosis manifestations, Churg Strauss syndrome, polymyalgia rheumatica, eosinophilic fasciitis, and complications of biologic therapies.
