Andrés Palacio is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Professor at the Department of Economic History at Lund University, with additional affiliations to the Centre for Economic Demography, Economic Demography, and the Economic Development of the Global South. His research focuses on economic development, sustainability, and social demography, with a emphasis on racial and gender inequalities.

He has taught development economics and economic history at undergraduate and graduate levels since 2011. His recent research outputs include studies on ESG frameworks for transformative change, internal migration patterns, economic resilience, and sustainable aquaculture.
Current projects include a FORMAS-funded initiative on climate–water–biodiversity interactions and participation in the Erasmus+ Programme. Collaborations span institutions like the Stockholm Environmental Institute and Externado University.
