Andrés Arteaga is an Associate Professor in Hispanic and Latin American Studies at Saint Mary's University (Halifax, Canada), affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and the Modern Languages and Classics department. He holds a PhD in Spanish Literature (University of Ottawa, 2011), a Master’s in Psychoanalysis (Université de Paris 8, 1998), and a B.A. in Psychology (Universidad de Antioquia, Colombia, 1996).
His research focuses on trauma narratives, particularly in Colombian post-conflict contexts and émigré literature. Key interests include historical memory, digital storytelling, and the intersection of literature with psychological and cultural trauma. He has authored/co-edited books such as Voces de la Pandemia (2022), Phoenix’s Haven (2016), and Levaduras de destrucción (2019).
Recent articles analyze autofictional techniques in post-war narratives, the role of memory in Colombian literature, and the legacy of figures like Álvaro Mutis. His work bridges literary analysis with psychoanalytic theory and historical critique, often collaborating with authors and communities to document marginalized voices.
Current projects explore collective resilience through digital storytelling in Colombia and the transatlantic dimensions of Latin American writing.
