Andres Arteaga

Andres Arteaga is an Assistant Professor at Saint Mary's University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and the Department of Modern Languages and Classics. He holds a Ph.D. in Spanish Literature from the University of Ottawa (2011), an M.A. in Aesthetics from Universidad Nacional de Colombia (2002), an M.A. in Psychoanalysis from Université de Paris VIII (1999), and a B.A. in Psychology (Universidad de Antioquia, 1996). His research focuses on trauma, testimony, and autofiction in Latin American and Colombian literature, psychoanalytic literary theory, cultural transfers, and historical memory.

Arteaga's work explores the intersection of Latin American literature with trauma studies, psychoanalysis, and historical memory. His recent publications analyze testimony and autofiction in post-conflict societies, colonial science-politics dynamics, and melancholy in Álvaro Mutis' works. He investigates how literature navigates identity, political violence, and cultural exchange, particularly in Colombian narratives.

Grants and Awards include funding from SSHRC, Saint Mary's University internal grants, and scholarships like the Ontario Graduate Scholarship and ALFA Program (EU). His teaching spans Saint Mary's University (2009–Present) and Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana (2013).
