André Habib is a Professor at the Université de Montréal, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Science and the Department of Art History, Cinema, and Audiovisual Media. He holds memberships in the CRIalt research center and GRAFICS (Groupe de recherche sur l'avènement et la formation des institutions cinématographique et scénique).
Research Interests: His work explores cinema’s materiality, experimental filmmaking, archival preservation, and the interplay of technology, nostalgia, and melancholy. Key areas include:
- Cinema’s historical memory and amateur/family film production
- Archival reuse in avant-garde collectives
- Technological mutations and digital cinema’s future
- Cinema’s relationship with time and environmental discourse (ecocinema)
