Andrew Wallace is a Professor in the Department of English Language and Literature at Carleton University, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. He holds degrees from Trinity College, University of Toronto (B.A.), and University of Toronto (M.A., Ph.D.). His research focuses on Renaissance literature, classical tradition, medieval literature, and intersections between classical philology and modern philosophy.
Key research projects include Virgil’s Schoolboys (Oxford, 2010), examining pedagogical ties between Virgil and Renaissance schoolmasters, and The Presence of Rome (Cambridge, 2020), analyzing Britain’s cultural relationship with Rome. Current work explores ancient Greek/Roman tragedy’s loss and rediscovery through philological and philosophical lenses.
Wallace has contributed to edited volumes like Taking Exception to the Law (Toronto, 2015) and published extensively in journals such as ELH and Renaissance Quarterly. He teaches graduate courses on Spenser, Milton, classical reception, and Renaissance pedagogy.
