معرفی
Andrew Walker is an Associate Professor and Senior Research Fellow in Computational Geosciences at the University of Oxford's Department of Earth Sciences. His research focuses on computational modeling of Earth materials, spanning atomic-scale mineral physics to whole-mantle dynamics. He explores mantle convection, seismic anisotropy, and core nucleation paradoxes, alongside software development for computational Earth sciences.
Education: PhD in Geology (2004) from The Royal Institution of Great Britain; MSci in Geological Sciences (2001) from UCL.
Teaching: Contributes to programming and field courses for undergraduates, supervises final-year projects, and coordinates graduate computational science training.
Software Development: Maintains the FoX Fortran XML library, critical for scientific data handling. Active in resolving compiler compatibility issues and advancing computational tools for Earth science communities.
Awards: Recognized with the University of Leeds Teaching & Research Award (2017) and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
