معرفی
Caroline Eakin is a Senior Lecturer and DECRA Fellow at the Research School of Earth Sciences, part of the Australian National University within the College of Science. She is affiliated with the Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions.
Education:
- PhD in Geophysics, Yale University (2015)
Her research focuses on observational seismology and geodynamics, particularly using seismic anisotropy to study mantle convection, plate tectonic processes, and lithosphere structure across diverse tectonic settings including subduction zones, mid-ocean ridges, and the Australian continental interior. Recent work includes investigating fluid-assisted seismicity at craton margins, African upper mantle dynamics, and sediment thickness mapping across Australia using passive seismic methods.
Her most recent publications explore topics in mantle convection modeling, craton evolution, seismic anisotropy, and continental lithosphere structure, with a strong focus on numerical simulations and field data integration.
Scientific Awards and Grants:
- DECRA Fellow
- Accelerating Exploration and Extraction of Renewable Natural Hydrogen (CRC-P Round 14)
- Principal Investigator for ANU Futures Scheme project (2020–2028)
She is registered to supervise research students and actively participates in global collaborations, particularly focusing on mantle dynamics and continental tectonics. Her work is supported by the ANU Seismology Imaging Capital and Operations project.
