Andrew Tomasch is a Lecturer II in the Department of Physics at the University of Michigan, affiliated with the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts (LSA). He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from Boston University (1988), an M.A. in Astronomy from Indiana University (1985), and a B.S. in Physics from the University of Notre Dame (1980). His research specializes in experimental astrophysics, particularly in cosmic ray studies and particle physics experiments using high-altitude balloons. He contributed to NASA's HEAT program, developing the HEAT magnet spectrometer critical for measuring antiproton and positron spectra. Since 2005, he has focused on teaching introductory physics and lab development. In 2009, he received LSA's Excellence in Education award.
