Andrew Shepherd

Andrew Shepherd serves as a Senior Lecturer Practitioner in Building Surveying at Anglia Ruskin University within the School of Engineering and the Built Environment (Faculty of Science and Engineering). Joining ARU in 2019 as a Lecturer and Chartered Surveyor, he holds formal teaching qualifications and Fellowship status with AdvanceHE.

His educational qualifications include:

• BSc (Hons) Building Surveying from Thames Polytechnic
• LOSH Qualifications in Managing Health & Safety and Leading Safely
• PG Cert in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education

Research focuses on degree apprenticeship pathways in Surveying, particularly RICS professional qualification routes from academic commencement through End Point Assessment (EPA) and Assessment of Professional Competence (APC). His expertise bridges academic instruction and industry credentialing requirements for building surveyors.

Professional recognition includes:

• Fellow of AdvanceHE (FHEA)
• MRICS designation with Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
• CMaPS certification from Association for Project Safety

With extensive private practice experience since 2007 as a partner at multi-disciplinary firm Ingleton Wood, he has led surveying, engineering and architecture teams delivering public sector capital projects for education authorities, local governments and social housing providers. He currently serves on RICS assessment panels evaluating building surveyors and project managers for professional membership.
