Andrew R. Harris

Andrew R. Harris is Assistant Professor in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Carleton University. He holds a PhD from University College London and MPhys from University of Leeds.

Research focuses on:

• Molecular determinants of cell/tissue mechanical properties
• Polymer mechanics and biological material interactions
• Engineering novel tools for biological studies
• Reverse engineering protein/cell mechanics for regenerative medicine

His interdisciplinary approach combines engineering, physics, and biology to study how subcellular networks govern physiological function. Current work aims to develop diagnostic tools and therapeutic approaches through fundamental mechanical insights.

Dr. Harris leads the Cellular and Tissue Engineering Laboratory (CTELab), focusing on quantitative measurements of cellular responses to mechanical stimuli and designing biomimetic materials.
