Andrew Pitel is an Assistant Instructional Professor in the Master of Arts Program in the Humanities at the University of Chicago's College. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Chicago (2021) and a BA from The Evergreen State College. His research focuses on the history of theoretical philosophy from late medieval to German Idealism traditions, with specialization in skepticism about substance, transcendental philosophy, and Kantian conceptual frameworks.

Current research projects include: substance knowability in Locke/Kant, transcendental philosophy's medieval roots, and Kant's pure concepts theory. He has taught philosophy at multiple institutions including UChicago, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and Chicago Public Schools. Dr. Pitel is an active member of Faculty Forward/SEIU Local 73, the contingent faculty union at the University of Chicago.
