Andrew Parker is a Professor in Leadership at Durham University Business School. He holds a PhD in Sociology from Stanford University (2011) and has held academic positions at the University of Exeter, Grenoble Ecole de Management, and visiting roles at the University of Kentucky and University of Melbourne. His research focuses on social network theory, relational leadership, knowledge sharing, and organizational dynamics. Parker has conducted studies across 90+ multinational organizations and government agencies, emphasizing network analysis to understand problem-solving, performance, and well-being.
He is co-author of The Hidden Power of Social Networks and co-editor of Networks in the Knowledge Economy. As an Associate Editor at Decision Sciences, he bridges academic research and practical application. His consulting work spans global firms like McKinsey, World Bank, Microsoft, and Pfizer, applying network insights to organizational challenges. Key research areas include relational energy, cross-domain multiplex relationships, and the impact of social networks on employee retention and innovation.
