Andrew Overall is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Brighton within the School of Applied Sciences, specifically in the Department of Ecology, Conservation and Society. His work focuses on genetic variation applications across forensic science, genetic disease, molecular ecology, and ageing. He has supervised numerous research projects including studies on water voles, jackals, thyroid cancer, and forensic age prediction using telomere length.
Research Interests:
- Forensic genetics and population substructure effects
- Genetic basis of rare diseases and evolutionary selection pressures
- Age-related genetic changes and their clinical implications
- Molecular ecology of endangered species conservation
Projects (Selected):
- Adverse drug reactions in older people (2015)
- Human-carnivore conflict in South Africa (2009-2016)
- Water voles: habitat and re-establishment (2005-2015)
Collaborations: Active in multi-institutional research networks addressing aging mechanisms, pharmacogenetics, and conservation genetics. His work frequently involves interdisciplinary approaches combining field ecology with molecular genetics.
