Andrew Millis is a Professor of Physics at Columbia University and co-director of the Center for Computational Quantum Physics at the Flatiron Institute. He serves as Managing Director of the Flatiron Institute. He holds a Ph.D. from MIT (1986) and has held roles at Bell Laboratories, Johns Hopkins University, Rutgers University, and Columbia. His research focuses on theoretical physics of electrons in materials, including superconductivity, magnetism, and numerical methods for many-electron systems. He has authored over 400 papers and advises on national science initiatives.

Research Interests: Collective electron properties in materials, high-temperature superconductors, oxide superlattices, and non-equilibrium conditions. Advanced numerical methods for quantum systems are central to his work.

- Fellowships: American Physical Society, AAAS
Advising & Leadership: Served as Columbia Physics Department Chair (2006-2009). Oversees the Flatiron Institute and advises NSF’s Mathematics and Physical Sciences Division. Founded the U.S. Summer School on Condensed Matter and Materials Physics.
Labs & Collaborations: Leads research at the Center for Computational Quantum Physics, focusing on dynamics, quantum materials, and computational methods.
